This sculpture depicts the
Earth God. He is a benevolent deity who cares for the land. Wrapped in
a cloak of fern foliage dwelling under the surface of the ground. He
cares for all plants and animals. He wears the colors of a tropical
humid jungle. On his head is a tree spirit, butterflies and seed pods.
He symbolizes the wild land in danger of being destroyed as economic
growth steamrolls over China as it did in Hong Kong.
