SNAKES AND LADDERS [BOARD GAME] Ceramic, underglazes, glazes 15 x 15 x 1 inches
This game was thought to have originated in India. The earliest Known Snakes and Ladders Game was registered in October 1892 by F.H.Ayres of London. Like many early board games, this circular ? Snakes and Ladders? requires the players to follow a spiral path to the winning number. The track is numbered from 1-100. By the turn of the century ?Snakes and Ladders? had become enormously popular. The game was changed when it was brought over to America. Fearing that the ?Snakes? would lose sales they were turned into ?Chutes?(Slides),the ladders remained the same.
